TWO people died in a horrific accident near Taung Fire Emergency Service on Sunday. The accident involving Greater Taung municipality driver, Mothusi Mocweng took place at around 7:30pm.
North West police spokesperson said: “A 70 year-old man and a woman aged 50 died during collision. Two cars were involved in a head-on collision. Other occupants were taken to Taung hospital for medical attention. A case of culpable homicide was opened and investigations continue.”
Meanwhile Greater Taung municipality sent their condolences to those who departed.
Greater Taung Local Municipality Manager in the Office of the Municipal Manager, Percy Matshane said: “We are very touched about what transpired. Our driver was on duty during the calamity. We cannot reveal what he was doing, but he was on duty at the time. Our heartfelt condolences to the deceased and we wish speedy recovery to those who were transported to the hospital.”
According to information, one of the drivers lost control and resulted in a head-on collision.
Mocweng was allegedly ferried municipality employees to their various destinations shortly before the accident.
The employees were allegedly from Pretoria where they attended workshop.
