SIXTEEN people sustained various injuries when two minibus taxis collided with each other on the N12 approximately 30 kilometres outside of Potchefstroom on Sunday morning.
ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak said their paramedics and others from emergency medical services (EMS) arrived on the scene found two people with critical injuries.
“Both the occupants were found trapped inside one of the vehicles. The local fire department had to use the Jaws of Life to free them from the wreckage. One of the critically injured patients had to be placed on life support.
“Fourteen others sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious. All of the patients were transported to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital for further medical care,” Vermaak said.
He said the exact cause for the collision is not yet known.
