LOCAL government and human settlements has noted the recent statement issued by the DA Chief Whip in the North West provincial legislature, Jacqueline Theologo and as indicated in the statement, will await her written request for some of the issues mentioned.
North West local government and human settlements department spokesperson, Ben Bole said officials from the Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC) worked round the clock to ensure that the elections were incident free.
He said any other official, who worked during the elections, did so in their personal capacity.
“An indication that the department has had ‘’salary and bonus challenges’’ is not only malicious but also misleading. The duration of the department since it was established in 2014, has never experienced problems of paying employees their salaries, nor bonuses.
“Whilst is a fact that only 15 municipalities have had improved audit outcomes. The department has assembled a team of financial experts to work with municipalities to assist to achieve clean audits,” Bole said.
