Johannesburg- A 49-year-old man was left in a critical condition after a motorcycle collision at the Hendrik Potgieter and Christiaan De Wet Road intersection, Johannesburg West this afternoon.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, a motorist was assisting the biker.
“Paramedics discovered that the patient had sustained a suspected fracture of his upper leg as well as soft tissue injuries to the rest of his body, which require advance life support treatment” Er24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
After he was treated and immobilised on a spine board, the patient was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The collision occurred when a light motor vehicle collided with the motorcyclist, causing him to lose control of the bike.
“The exact cause of the collision is under investigation by local authorities” Meiring said.-TDN
